Ziwei Chen is a PhD student in Film and Media Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. With a background in Computer Science and Media Studies, he is broadly interested in comparative media history and theory, science and technology studies (STS), and critical studies of computation and digital media. His current project looks at the history of transformation of the built urban environment through media technologies in (post-)socialist China, particularly by thinking through questions of mass consumption and mobilization, urban infrastructures and design, and the cultural politics of environmental and social control.
He is originally from Shanghai, China and resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.
